SKIER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (SDP)
Black Jack Ski Club follows Nordiq Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. The Skier Development Program (SDP) at Black Jack is a key component of our club, beginning with Bunnies & Jack Rabbits where young skiers are introduced to a lifelong sport, and continuing into our racing programs where Black Jack’s SDP athletes may compete at the provincial, national, and international level.

Track Attack
This is the next step after Jackrabbits and is designed for U10 and U12 skiers. The Track Attack program continues to develop skills through skiing and games, with the option to attend local races.
The program is offered ten months of the year, with 2 to 4 training sessions per week. Track Attack fosters fitness, skill development, and a sense of being part of a team. Athletes interested in competing can have up to 10 race days per year.
Junior Racers and Development (Jr RAD)
This program follows Track Attack and is designed for U14 skiers interested in racing. The focus is to further develop and refine skiers’ skills, technique, and fitness, and to support competition in local and provincial races.
Athletes in this program have 4 training sessions per week, training camp opportunities, and 10 to 16 race days per year.
Racers and Elite
This is the stage of development where athletes U16 and older are specialized and focused on skiing as their competitive sport.
This is the most intensive level of programming. Athletes have indivual training plans that can include 2 sessions per day. The focus is to further develop and refine skiers’ skills, technique, and fitness, and to support athletes to take part in organized races locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
